Daniel Suarez claims dramatic victory in NASCAR Xfinity Mexico race

Daniel Suarez achieved an incredible feat in the NASCAR Xfinity Series return to Mexico City — securing a dramatic victory after starting from 39th position in a backup car.

“This is very special. Very special to be here in front of my people. All these people have supported me for many years, loved me since my NASCAR Mexico days. And now we’re fighting with the big boys,” Suarez expressed.

The crucial moment came with 19 laps remaining — Suarez, restarting from fourth position, executed a three-wide maneuver to seize the lead at Turn 1. An incident behind him involved the two fastest cars of the day, Connor Zilisch and Ty Gibbs.

Competition intensified in the final laps as Taylor Gray applied strong pressure — both cars made contact pushing Suarez onto the grass but he maintained the lead. Gray attempted a final attack in the last corner, but Suarez secured his first victory since his championship win at Homestead eight years ago.
