Mauricio Souza arrives in Indonesia to lead Persija Jakarta

Mauricio Souza has landed in Indonesia to begin his duties as the new coach of Persija Jakarta — the club that is preparing for Liga 1 2025/26.

The Macan Kemayoran experienced performance decline in the last two seasons — finishing eighth under Thomas Doll and seventh with Carlos Pena who was dismissed near the season’s end.

Souza’s reputation in Indonesian football is unquestionable — the Brazilian coach successfully led Madura United to the championship round of Liga 1 before departing to return to his homeland.
