Kiboy Credits Onic PH for Championship Boost

Onic ID exp laner Nicky “Kiboy” Fernanda recently revealed one secret behind his team’s rapid improvement during MPL ID Season 15.

After a rough start in the regular season, Onic ID brought back legendary coach Paul “Yeb” Denver as their interim coach for the second half. And the Boys in Yellow immediately showed incredible progress as they were climbing from the elimination zone to finish third.

The Yellow Porcupine carried this momentum into the playoffs with even stronger performances. They crushed the reigning champion Team Liquid ID, Geek Fam, and defeated RRQ Hoshi twice to win their sixth title. This sudden surge caught the attention of professionals, who noticed a clear shift in Onic’s playstyle compared to last season.

Via GGWP, Kiboy explained that their current strategy was partly inspired by practice sessions with their sister team in the Philippines, Onic PH – inititated by Yeb. He added that training intensity with them increased during the playoffs break, with both teams actively sharing strategies for facing different opponents.

Besides strategy, Kiboy praised coaches Yeb and Adi “Adi” Asyauri for motivating his team to improve after the regular season. These joint practice sessions are expected to continue until they depart for the MSC x EWC 2025 event in Saudi Arabia this July.

Given their current outstanding form, both Onic ID and PH will be teams to watch in Saudi Arabia, especially with star players like Gilang “Sanz”, Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol, and Grant “Kelra” Pillas.
