Iberian Soul Exits TWC Due to Widespread Power Outage

A shocking incident occurred during the closed qualifiers of the Thunderpick World Championship 2025, which featured a CS2 match between Iberian Soul and SABRE last night (28/04). The former was compelled to withdraw from the best-of-3 series following a widespread power outage affected both Spain and Portugal.

The match saw both teams deliver strong performances, pushing the showdown to a decisive Game 3 on Default. However, just as the Spanish squad secured a 6-1 lead in the first half, an extended power outage left them unable to resume play, resulting in their disqualification due to withdrawal.

The situation was later confirmed by one of Iberian’s player, Alejandro “mopoz” Fernández-Quejo, who stated that his team could not return to the game due to the aforementioned issues. However, he expressed disappointment over the Thunderpick organizers’ decision to penalize the team with a 25-point deduction in the Valve Regional Standings.

At the moment, Iberian is in communication with Valve and the TWC officials to resolve the situation. However, as the situation within the region is nowhere stable, professional players in Spain and Portugal may face prolonged delays before they can compete optimally without experiencing similar disruptions.
