Vietnamese media highlights Ajax Amsterdam defender’s chance to join Indonesia national team

Vietnamese media Soha pays special attention to Ajax Amsterdam defender Tristan Gooijer‘s statement about potentially joining the Indonesia national team.

In a recent interview with Dutch media Voetbal Primeur, the 20-year-old player, who has Indonesian blood through his grandmother — expressed his interest in joining the Garuda Squad.

“I respect Indonesian football development and have seen its progress. I don’t rule out the possibility of contributing to the national team,” said Gooijer.

However, the young Ajax Amsterdam defender — currently remains focused on his injury recovery process.

With Indonesia actively pursuing players of Indonesian descent to strengthen the squad, Gooijer‘s potential inclusion could be a significant boost.

His experience in European football, combined with his technical skills—would add depth to the team’s defensive lineup. While his commitment remains uncertain, the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) will likely continue monitoring his situation closely.
