PSSI chooses Bali for national team training camp before China and Japan matches

Erick Thohir reveals preparation strategy in Bali

Erick Thohir, Chairman of PSSI, confirmed that the Indonesian national team will hold a training camp in Bali ahead of two decisive matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers Asian Zone.

Crucial matches await Indonesia

The Garuda squad will face China at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium on June 5, 2025, before flying to Osaka to take on Japan on June 10, 2025 — both matches crucial for progressing to the next round.

Camp schedule aligns with league season ends

The training camp is set to begin on May 26, 2025, aligning with the end of competitions such as the:
  • English Championship

  • Dutch Eredivisie

  • Italian Serie A

  • Indonesian League

Why Bali was chosen

Why Bali? We are encouraging players to break from their vacation,” said Erick Thohir.

“We’re trying to persuade them where they want to relax. Some have already had holidays elsewhere. Many want to be in Bali.”

As Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Thohir emphasized that selecting Bali — often dubbed the Island of Gods — is meant to give players a fresh atmosphere after a demanding season.
