Inter Milan Facing Trophyless End to 2025 Season

Inter Milan are facing a worrying collapse at the end of the 2024–2025 season — from a potential treble to the threat of finishing without a trophy.

Simone Inzaghi‘s team, who previously led the Serie A standings by three points over Napoli, have now fallen three points behind. The situation worsened after a heavy 3-0 defeat to AC Milan in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semifinals.

Former Serie A player Paolo Di Canio criticized the lack of motivation among Inter players.

“Only Francesco Acerbi still showed fighting spirit when trailing against AS Roma — the only one who still believed when the others had given up,” said Di Canio.

Di Canio also highlighted issues with Inzaghi‘s leadership:

Inzaghi is good tactically, but compared to Antonio Conte, something is missing. This is not about fatigue, it’s about team management.”

Inter now face a daunting task as they visit Barcelona for the first leg of their Champions League semifinal — their last remaining shot at a title this season.
