Inter Miami Fall to Vancouver Despite Lionel Messi Start

According to Bolasport.com, Inter Miami suffered a 0-2 defeat against Vancouver Whitecaps in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup semifinal at BC Place.

Lionel Messi, who started the match, was unable to prevent his team from losing at Vancouver Whitecaps’ home ground on Thursday night.

The Argentine star had a golden opportunity in the 18th minute — making a penetrating run down the right side of the penalty area and sending a low cross across goal, but none of his teammates were able to convert it.

Four minutes later, Messi had another chance to score — receiving a pass inside the box, but the ball was successfully cleared by a Vancouver defender.
