Harry Maguire Earns “Harrydinho” Nickname in Europa Win

Harry Maguire earned the new nickname “Harrydinho” after a surprising run down the right wing helped Manchester United secure a 3-0 win over Athletic Club in the first leg of the Europa League semifinal.

The England centre-back — typically known for his defensive duties — shocked fans by dribbling past defenders and delivering a pinpoint cross that led to the opening goal by Casemiro in the 30th minute.

“It was amazing… I’m sure there are a few nicknames for me,” Maguire told TNT Sports. “It felt great to dribble and deliver a good cross.”

Ruben Amorim, the manager, also praised his player’s performance: “He’s a great winger! Sometimes in life, there are moments like this, and Harry has been through tough times. Everything he did was great for the team.”

Bruno Fernandes scored the other two goals before halftime — one from the penalty spot after Rasmus Højlund was fouled by Dani Vivian, who was then sent off. The result puts Manchester United one step closer to the Europa League final.
