Aldeguer Refuses to Copy Marc Marquez’s Ducati Racing Style

Mixed Weekend for Aldeguer at Jerez Circuit

Fermin Aldeguer, Gresini Racing’s rookie rider, experienced an eventful Spanish GP weekend at the Jerez Circuit. He impressed in the sprint race with a fifth-place finish aboard the Ducati Desmosedici GP24, but his main race ended prematurely due to a crash.

Testing Session and Time Gap with Marquez

In the post-race test session, Aldeguer recorded a best lap of 1 minute 36.7300 seconds — 0.854 seconds behind Marc Marquez, who posted the fastest time of the day.

Aldeguer on Marquez: “He’s My Reference, but I Must Be Myself”

Despite the constant comparisons, Aldeguer insists on developing his own approach. He revealed that during a recent practice start, he attempted to imitate Márquez but faced unintended consequences.

“In the last practice start, I tried to do what they told me, to start like Marc Marquez, but it went pretty badly,” Aldeguer told GPOne.

He added in an earlier interview with Paddock-GP:

“Marc Marquez is my reference, but I have to think of him as another rider on the starting grid next year.”

Motivation from Teammate’s Victory

Alex Marquez’s recent victory at the Spanish GP adds motivation for Aldeguer, who continues working hard with Gresini Racing to improve in the upcoming rounds of the 2025 season.
