Zellsis Cites Health Woes After Sentinels Loss Against Paper Rex at EWC 2025

Zellsis Cites Health Woes After Sentinels Loss Against Paper Rex at EWC 2025

Sentinels player Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro has explained one reason that possibly affected his play when his team faced Paper Rex in the first round of the Valorant EWC 2025 playoffs.

Predicted to be a close battle, Sentinels got steamrolled instead and suffered a clean 0-2 sweep by the W Gaming squad. They also became a butt of community’s meme during 3-13 loss in Game 1.

Several Sentinels players, including Zellsis, faced criticism following the match for what was seen as an embarrassment to the North American VCT scene. Zellsis later clarified on social media, suggesting the team’s performance dip – especially his own – was likely due to physical health issues he faced in Saudi Arabia.

“0-2 vs Paper Rex. Got severe flu and food poisoning yesterday. No excuses, but if you’re curious why I was constantly holding my head or stomach that’s why.”

Sentinels’ overall performance at EWC 2025 had already drawn criticism for inconsistency. However, this decisive loss was particularly disappointing for a team considered as one of the NA giants.

This loss means no VCT NA teams remain in the EWC 2025 playoffs. Sentinels were eliminated alongside NA’s last hope, NRG, who suffered the same fate against Gen.G in the same day.
