Zachariah Josiahno becomes the only Indonesian representative to advance at Canada Open

The Canada Open 2025 tournament taking place at Markham Pan Am Centre, Ontario — has left only one Indonesian representative advancing to the round of 16.

Zachariah Josiahno Sumanti, who partners with host country’s shuttler Catherine Choi, successfully defeated Brazilian pair Fabricio Farias/Jaqueline Lima in a match that lasted 44 minutes.

In the next round, Zacha/Choi will face a tougher challenge — meeting fourth seeds from England, Callum Hemming/Estelle Van Leeuwen.

Different fate befell other Indonesian representatives. Men’s doubles pair Rian Agung Saputro/Gabriel Christopher Winta Wijaya and Andre Timotius Tololiu who partnered with Dong Adam from Canada — had to acknowledge their opponents’ superiority.
