According to Motorsport.com, Yuki Tsunoda is set to join Red Bull Racing—replacing Liam Lawson, who has struggled to adapt after the first two races of the 2025 season.

The driver change decision has entered its final stage, with an official announcement expected this weekend. This move follows a series of intensive meetings over the past few days.

“This is a lifetime opportunity for Tsunoda. He will drive a top-team car—something that not many Formula 1 drivers get to experience,” stated Ken Tanaka, Motorsport.com Japan journalist.

Two key factors support Tsunoda’s promotion—his impressive performance and financial backing from Honda. However, significant challenges await, as the RB21 is known to be difficult to drive, particularly for drivers with a different style than Max Verstappen.

For Lawson, this decision comes as a harsh blow, having had only two Grand Prix opportunities. However, Red Bull is known for its strict driver selection policy, prioritizing those who can help achieve the 2025 Constructors’ Championship ambition.

With Tsunoda set for a career-defining opportunity, his adaptation to the RB21 and Red Bull’s high expectations will be crucial in determining his long-term future in Formula 1.
