Yuki Tsunoda loses phone in Lake Como, Red Bull jokes about it

According to Instagram Story, Yuki Tsunoda announced losing his phone while swimming in Lake Como, Italy — where he visited during the break between British and Belgian Grand Prix.

Red Bull quickly responded to the incident with humor, sharing a Lake Como map with phone location marker labeled “Jason Statham’s Son” — referring to Tsunoda’s unique Airdrop name.

The nickname originated from Tsunoda’s meeting with actor Jason Statham at the 2023 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, when his performance coach Michael Italiano revealed that the Japanese driver was a huge Statham fan.

“His Airdrop name, this is a true story, is ‘Jason Statham’s son’. Every time his phone connects to the car, it says ‘connected to Jason Statham’s son’,” Italiano disclosed then.

Joining Red Bull in early 2025 replacing Liam Lawson, Tsunoda still struggles to find his best performance with the RB21 car — currently sitting 17th in drivers’ standings with 10 points, while Red Bull team holds fourth in constructors with 172 points.
