You Addresses Exit from XLG Esports

Former XLG Esports star Yip “You” Man-ho, who recently faced sanctions from Riot Games, has finally addressed his status and clarified allegations against him.

On May 19, the 25-year-old player announced his exit from XLG and indefinite withdrawal from competitive gaming. He apologized to fans for the incident but denied accusations of making racist remarks targeting Chinese communities.

“Hi everyone, this is Yip Man (You) from Hong Kong, China. I have always been proud to be a player from China. Recently, the controversy caused by me has drawn widespread attention and brought unpleasantness to you all, I am very sorry about that!

Regarding my participation in matchfixing: According to the announcement by Riot, I was suspended for 12 months the violating the rules. The suspension was from 20 September 2021 to 19 September 2022. That was true.

As for those screenshots expressing “anti-Chinese sentiments”, the Steam account in question was not used by me personally, and the comments were not written by me personally. My Steam account is YMTATTT, I have a lot of friends added, and you can view my Steam profile.”

However, Riot later extended You’s suspension to 24 months after reviewing evidence, with the penalty ended in September 2023.

As Valorant’s esports scene grows increasingly scrutinized—especially in China—You’s case serves as a stark warning to players tempted to exploit competitions through illegal means.
