Yeum Hye-seon, the setter and captain of Daejeon JungKwanJang Red Sparks, has expressed her ambition to guide her team to the Korean Volleyball League finals this season.

The 34-year-old veteran — who has been a professional for 17 years, has not won a championship since the 2015-2016 season with Hyundai Construction. Despite persistent right knee pain, Yeum has played in 32 out of 36 regular-season matches, demonstrating her commitment and resilience.

Yeum’s impressive performance was evident in the away match against Hyundai at Suwon Gymnasium — where she led Red Sparks to a commanding 3-0 victory. Her leadership became increasingly vital as the team faced challenges with injuries to Vanja Bukilic and Park Eun-jin.

The captain’s strategic playmaking helped Red Sparks maintain a 50% success rate in sets against one or more opposing blockers—a testament to her skill and court vision.

With her experience, leadership, and unwavering determination, Yeum Hye-seon remains a key figure in Red Sparks’ pursuit of the Korean Volleyball League title. Overcoming injuries and tough competition, her influence on the court could be the decisive factor in the team’s championship aspirations.
