Yellow card prevents Bellingham brothers duel in Club World Cup

Yellow card prevents Bellingham brothers duel in Club World Cup

According to Reuters, a historic meeting between the Bellingham brothers at the Club World Cup has been canceled — Jobe Bellingham must be absent due to accumulated yellow cards when Borussia Dortmund defeated Monterrey.

Jobe Bellingham won’t be able to face his brother Jude Bellingham who plays for Real Madrid in the quarter-final match at MetLife Stadium, New Jersey — after receiving a yellow card in the previous match.

“We all saw that he was very disappointed. I think he did not exactly know that the second yellow card is a suspension at halftime,” stated Dortmund manager, Niko Kovac.

Kovac remains optimistic about future sibling duels — despite missing this rare moment. He also explained his decision to substitute Jobe in the 55th minute to avoid a red card.

Real Madrid and Dortmund both remain unbeaten in this tournament — with one draw and three wins each.
