In a surprising turn of event, Filipino MLBB world champion and esports star Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera has officially announced his retirement from professional MLBB competition.

The news was shared via the official social media of his most recent team, TNC Pro, in the MPL PH. They thanked the veteran roamer for his contributions during Season 15.

“A true companion inside and outside of the game. Yawi has been a major part of our success as a team to soar into greater heights. His skills and determination says it all as we achieve every victory that you, Phoenix Army had seen throughout his entire journey with us.

Yawi, thank you for contributing to the team’s success in our recent journey. May you continue to rise high in your next journey. See you around, Idolo!”

This praise for Yawi is clearly well-deserved. Throughout his career as a skilled roamer, he made significant contributions to every team he played for, especially with TNC Pro Team, ECHO Philippines, and Team Liquid ID in MPL Indonesia.

During these periods, he won prestigious titles including MPL Philippines Season 11, MPL Indonesia Season 14, and the M4 World Championship. The 23-year-old player also gained popularity for his playstyle, which balanced clever strategy with high-risk moves.

Although he’s now stepping down, the legacy Yawi built will surely inspire new players and fans across the Philippines and Southeast Asia. It’ll be interesting to see what he does next after retirement.
