XLG Esports Suspends You from the Squad Amid Renewed Violations

On May 18, 2025, XLG Esports officially suspended their Valorant ace Ho “You” Yip Man following reports of serious integrity violations in a few last months.

The allegations include accusations of discriminatory remarks against China and potential involvement in match-fixing. Clips of alleged evidence supporting these claims have circulated online.

Responding to community pressure, XLG suspended You from all competitions and withheld his salary pending an internal investigation. His position will likely be filled by a junior player from the reserve team registered ahead of the VCT China 2025 season.

The decision came as a surprise, considering the 26-year-old was instrumental in securing XLG’s qualification for Masters Toronto and the Esports World Cup 2025. However, many may not know that You faced similar controversy before joining XLG.

In 2022, Riot Games dropped the ban hammer on him for 12 months due to match-fixing during his time with Totoro Gaming. This scandal definitely dented his reputation, as he once publicly apologized and regretted his action when the news came to light.
