Xabi Alonso reveals his new philosophy for Real Madrid ahead of Club World Cup

Xabi Alonso — Real Madrid’s new coach replacing Carlo Ancelotti — emphasizes that playing philosophy is as important as match results.

Before his debut with Real Madrid at the 2025 Club World Cup against Al Hilal, Alonso — who previously managed Bayer Leverkusen — outlined his vision for the team.

“We want to win, but how we do it is also important and has great value,” stated Alonso.

“In any competition, Real Madrid is a candidate and that’s deserved. We have to prove it. We’re not blinded by the final, although that’s the goal,” he added.

The match between Real Madrid and Al Hilal — 19-time Saudi Arabian league champions — will be held at Hard Rock Stadium, United States.
