Wrexham Starts Australian Tour with Dominant Win over Melbourne Victory

In their first preseason tour match in Australia, Wrexham AFC defeated Melbourne Victory 3-0 at Marvel Stadium — marking a positive start to their tour series.

Melbourne Victory managed to apply pressure in the opening 30 minutes, but Thomas O’Connor broke the deadlock for Wrexham with a volley in the 43rd minute — capitalizing on goalkeeper Jack Duncan’s clearance error.

Coach Phil Parkinson made a complete rotation in the second half by fielding 11 new players — including captain James McClean and new striker Ryan Hardie. This change proved effective when Ryan Hardie scored his first goal for the club in the 67th minute, followed by George Evans‘s long-range shot for the third goal.

“It’s a long time since we’ve played and it was a long trip over. I’m pleased with the workout. The idea of tonight was obviously to put in a good performance for the people who paid money to come and watch us,” said Parkinson.

Wrexham will continue their journey to Sydney — where they are scheduled to face Douglas Costa’s Sydney FC in their next match.
