Wrexham Starts Australia Tour with Dominant Win over Melbourne Victory

In their first preseason tour match in Australia, Wrexham FC defeated Melbourne Victory with a convincing 3-0 score at Marvel Stadium, Melbourne.

Melbourne Victory managed to apply pressure in the opening 30 minutes — but Thomas O’Connor broke the deadlock for Wrexham with a volley strike in the 43rd minute.

Manager Phil Parkinson made a complete rotation in the second half by introducing 11 new players, including new signing Ryan Hardie from Plymouth Argyle and goalkeeper Danny Ward from Leicester City.

  • Hardie scored his debut goal for Wrexham in the 67th minute
  • George Evans extended the lead with a long-range shot in the 77th minute

“It’s a long time since we’ve played and it was a long trip over. I’m pleased with the workout. The idea of tonight was obviously to put in a good performance for the people who paid money to come and watch us,” said Parkinson.

Wrexham will continue their tour to Sydney to face Sydney FC next Tuesday, before starting their Championship campaign in the 2025-26 season.
