Wrexham’s women’s team is gearing up for their most significant match of the season — the Bute Energy Cup final against Cardiff City, which will take place on April 27, 2025. After a 2-0 loss in last year’s final, Steve Dale‘s team enters this year’s match with high confidence, having defeated Cardiff twice in recent weeks.

A Difficult Start, But Confidence is Now High

Gemma Owen, Head of Women’s Football Operations at Wrexham, admits that the team faced a difficult start to the season, with four losses in their first five matches. However, a preseason tour to the United States helped shift momentum and strengthened team dynamics.

“The tour was incredible, not just from a player’s perspective, but from the staff’s as well,” Owen said. “We learned so much, and it will be an unforgettable experience.”

Team captain Keren Allen emphasized the importance of open communication in helping the team recover from early setbacks.

“It’s sometimes hard to know where you want to go. We needed to have honest conversations to align the vision between players and staff,” she said.

Wrexham U19 Team’s Success Highlights Bright Future for the Club

The positive development at Wrexham extends beyond the senior team. Their U19 team recently won the Genero Adran U19s North title, and several young players have even made their debuts with the senior team, highlighting the club’s promising future.
