Wrexham AFC launches new home kit inspired by 1980s era

Welsh club under Hollywood ownership of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney — Wrexham AFC — has just unveiled their new home kit that’s capturing attention across the football world.

The new uniform for the 2025-26 season draws inspiration from the jersey worn during the 1981-82 campaign — the last time The Red Dragons competed in English football’s second tier.

This modern jersey maintains classic elements with its wide fold-over collar, striped accents, and white pinstripe pattern — yet features fresh cuts and template. Inside the jersey, motivational text reads “Wrexham Is The Name” below the collar and “History Only Tells A Story” at the bottom.

The club’s journey over the past three seasons has been documented in the “Welcome To Wrexham” series on FX/Disney+ — showcasing the team’s transformation from fifth division to Championship promotion. Unlike the 1981-84 period that ended with two consecutive relegations, club management now holds much greater ambitions for the upcoming season.
