WRC 2027 Technical Regulations Attract New Manufacturers and Tuners

According to Motorsport.com, interest in the World Rally Championship (WRC) 2027 technical regulations continues to grow — while rule details are still being finalized.

These new regulations are designed with a €345,000 cost cap and will deliver performance equivalent to current Rally1 cars — utilizing space frame chassis and Rally2 components.

Xavier Mestellen Pinon, FIA Technical Director, revealed:

“What I can say is two of them are working closely with us on this project. Two are very involved and we are in discussions.”

The FIA-approved bodywork regulations last month allow design freedom — ranging from saloons to hatchbacks, crossovers, and bespoke designs.

  • Toyota has started preliminary preparation
  • M-Sport awaits further details
  • Hyundai requests greater drivetrain flexibility

While the main focus remains on internal combustion engines, FIA is discussing possible engine flexibility for 2027. Roll cage finalization is expected to complete within the next two months.
