Wolves immortalize Diogo Jota in Hall of Fame after tragedy

Wolves have inducted Diogo Jota into the club’s Hall of Fame — a tribute paid after the Portuguese player and his brother André Silva died in a car crash near Zamora, Spain.

“Diogo was not only a phenomenal footballer, but someone who carried himself with humility and kindness throughout his time at Wolves, and will be sorely missed by all of us,” stated Wolves’ Director of Football Administration, Matt Wild.

The former Wolves striker — who scored 44 goals in 131 appearances and helped the club secure Premier League promotion in 2018 before joining Liverpool in 2020.

“There is such a feeling of sadness and disbelief around this awful tragedy that we wanted to make this tribute of our own as soon as we could,” said Wolves Hall of Fame chairman John Richards.

Wolves also plan to honor Diogo and André during their final preseason match against Celta Vigo and their Premier League opener against Manchester City.
