Wojciech Szczesny admitted to ESPN that he has lost his personal battle against smoking — and warned others not to follow his example.

Since joining Barcelona last October, Szczesny has become a fan favorite, suffering just one defeat in 25 appearances. Supporters even chant “Szczesny fumador” during matches, acknowledging his honesty about smoking.

“There are aspects in my career where I failed to set a good example. About smoking — please don’t follow me. I lost my fight against this bad habit I started when I was very young,” said Szczesny.

The 35-year-old goalkeeper has recorded 13 clean sheets for Barcelona, helping the team remain competitive across all competitions as the season nears its end.

Barcelona currently lead LaLiga, four points ahead of Real Madrid, and will face their rivals in the Copa del Rey final this weekend.

“I just got lucky joining the team as they started winning games. The way this team defends makes my job easier — they block every shot and win every duel,” Szczesny added modestly.
