Wimbledon 2025 Scorches Into Action with Record Heat

JAKARTA, 30 June — The 2025 edition of Wimbledon began today under extreme heat, with temperatures forecast to reach 36°C — making it the hottest Wimbledon opener on record.

In response, tournament officials have confirmed that cooling breaks will now be allowed during matches when on-court temperatures exceed 30°C, a rule implemented to protect player welfare.

“With conditions like this, safety has to come first,” said Dr. James Coleman, part of Wimbledon’s medical advisory team.

Spectators at the All England Club are being offered access to shaded rest zones, free water refill points, and misting fans as heat precautions ramp up.

Despite the heat, play continues as scheduled, including the anticipated Centre Court match featuring defending champion Carlos Alcaraz. The 21-year-old Spaniard will face Fabio Fognini at 1:30 PM local time.

With London sizzling and players feeling the strain, Wimbledon 2025 is serving up intensity from day one—on and off the court.
