Wimbledon 2025: Who Can Stop Alcaraz and Świątek?

JAKARTA, 30 June – With the grass season’s crown jewel underway, all eyes are on two of the biggest forces in tennis: Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Świątek. As Wimbledon 2025 kicks off, the question on everyone’s mind is simple — can anyone stop them?

At just 21, Alcaraz enters Wimbledon as the defending champion, fresh off a dominant clay campaign that saw him win the French Open and clinch the Queen’s Club title. His seamless transition between surfaces and unmatched intensity make him the top favorite in the men’s draw.

Standing in his way are two familiar names: Jannik Sinner, the cool-headed Italian with a laser forehand and rising confidence, and Novak Djokovic, the 38-year-old Grand Slam legend who refuses to fade. Djokovic, despite battling fitness concerns earlier this year, remains a serious title threat at SW19 — where he’s won seven times.

“Alcaraz is leading the pack, but Djokovic is never out of the conversation — especially on grass,” said former Wimbledon champion Boris Becker.

On the women’s side, Świątek continues her reign as World No. 1, but grass remains her least dominant surface. Even so, her improvement year-on-year has made her a dangerous contender this time around.

She won’t have it easy. Coco Gauff, a U.S. Open champion, brings speed and shot variety that suits grass play. Aryna Sabalenka, with her blistering power, is also chasing her first Wimbledon title after multiple deep runs. And of course, Barbora Krejčíková, the defending champion, returns with quiet confidence and a versatile all-court game.

“Everyone’s watching Iga, but Wimbledon is open. It’s about adapting fast and staying cool under pressure,” noted commentator Martina Navratilova.

With youth, power, and legacy all clashing over two weeks, Wimbledon 2025 promises drama from the very first serve. Alcaraz and Świątek may be the front-runners—but history shows that Centre Court loves a surprise.
