Will Power Claims Record-Breaking 71st Pole Position at Bommarito 500

Will Power dominated the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 qualifying session with a time of 49.9088 seconds and an average speed of 180.329 mph over two laps — marking his 71st career pole position.

“I really sent it all,” Power stated. “I knew that’s what it would take. I was almost flat in turns 3 and 4, though not quite, but very close.”

Team Penske locked out the front row, with Scott McLaughlin just 0.1515 seconds behind in second place. Chevrolet claimed the top five positions — Pato O’Ward, David Malukas, and Josef Newgarden completing the lineup.

Marcus Armstrong emerged as the fastest Honda driver in sixth, followed by teammate Felix Rosenqvist. Honda secured positions six through eleven with Colton Herta, Alex Palou, and Kyle Kirkwood rounding out the top ten.

Weather played a crucial role in qualifying — the schedule delayed by two hours due to morning drizzle. Overcast conditions later benefited drivers qualifying in the latter sessions with cooler track temperatures.
