Weng Hong Yang Falls Again to Kodai Naraoka

In a match at the Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur, Weng Hong Yang was defeated by Kodai Naraoka with a score of 12–21, 19–21 in the Malaysia Masters 2025 quarterfinals.

This marks Weng’s second consecutive loss to the Japanese shuttler — after also falling in the second round of the Thailand Open two weeks ago.

Nicknamed Little Lin Dan, Weng showed early dominance in the second game — leading 11–3 at the interval. However, 2023 World Championships finalist Naraoka turned the tide after the break.

A day earlier, Weng had secured a victory against Indonesia’s Alwi Farhan with a score of 19–21, 21–16, 21–17 in the second round.
