Watanabe scores historic goal as Urawa Reds lose to Inter Milan

Ryoma Watanabe marked a historic moment when Urawa Reds faced Inter Milan in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup at Lumen Field.

The Japanese winger managed to put his team ahead early — scoring in the 11th minute with a low shot after receiving a pass from the right wing.

Urawa’s lead lasted until halftime, but Inter Milan bounced back in the second half. Lautaro Martinez equalized with a spectacular bicycle kick in the 78th minute.

In injury time, Valentin Carboni secured a 2-1 victory for the Italian side — ending Urawa Reds’ hopes of advancing to the next round.
