Vietnam Faces World Cup U-17 Elimination Threat After Two Draws

The Vietnam U-17 national team coached by Cristiano Roland finds themselves in a critical situation at the 2025 AFC U-17 Asian Cup taking place in Saudi Arabia.

In their Group B opener at the Okadh Sport Club Stadium, Taif — Vietnam drew 1-1 against Australia. MacNico scored for Australia in the 41st minute, while Hoang Trong Dhuy Khang equalized in the 49th minute.

A similar fate repeated when Vietnam was held to another 1-1 draw by Japan — putting their qualification hopes for the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup in jeopardy. This situation puts Vietnam at risk of following Thailand’s footsteps who have already been eliminated from the competition.
