Nguyen Tuan Kiet‘s squad secured their semifinal ticket after defeating Australia with a commanding 3-0 victory (25-11, 25-14, 25-15) in a match that lasted less than 60 minutes.

Kazakhstan — Vietnam’s semifinal opponent — qualified as Group B runners-up behind Philippines. Rishat Giliazutdinov‘s team previously defeated Indonesia 3-0, but had to acknowledge Philippines’ superiority in their final match.
