Victor Igbonefo Close to Claiming Fifth Indonesian League Title with Persib

Veteran defender Victor Igbonefo is on the verge of adding another chapter to his decorated career. As reported by Bolasport.com, the Indonesian national team stalwart needs just two more points with Persib Bandung to clinch his fifth Indonesian League title.

Persib will face Malut United in an away match at Kie Raha Stadium, Ternate, in early May — a fixture that could decide the 2024/25 Liga 1 championship.

A Look Back at Igbonefo’s Championship Success

The Nigerian-born defender has already secured four Indonesian League titles:

  • Persipura Jayapura: 2005, 2008/09, 2010/11

  • Persib Bandung: 2023/24

Victory in Ternate would not only cement Persib’s status as back-to-back champions but also mark a historic personal milestone for Igbonefo.

A Veteran’s Legacy in Indonesian Football

Igbonefo’s leadership and consistency over the years have made him one of Liga 1’s most respected figures. Securing a fifth title would underscore his remarkable longevity and impact on Indonesian football.
