Verstappen Responds to Rumors of Meeting with Mercedes Boss in Sardinia

Max Verstappen has offered a casual response to rumors about his meeting with Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff in Sardinia during the racing break before the Belgian GP.

“I was swimming in the ocean at the time. I don’t really care about these things. I went on holiday with friends and family — and when other people are there at the same time, that can happen,” Verstappen told Motorsport.com.

Toto Wolff also spoke ahead of the race at Spa-Francorchamps circuit — the team’s current focus is on George Russell and Andrea Kimi Antonelli whose contracts expire this season.

“The direction is clearly that we want to continue with George and Kimi. That’s the absolute priority. While we can’t ignore someone like Max and his future plans, I don’t think there will be any big surprises,” Wolff explained.
