Verstappen Remains Calm Despite Race Ban Threat in Canadian GP

Max Verstappen faces a critical situation ahead of the Canadian and Austrian GPs — the Red Bull driver is just one penalty point away from a race ban. The accumulation of 11 penalty points came after an incident with George Russell at the Spanish GP.

Facing this threat, the Dutch world champion remains firm about his racing approach:

“I don’t need to change anything. I will race like I always do. I trust myself.”

Verstappen explained his frustration at the Spanish GP — a three-stop strategy disrupted by the safety car, battles with Charles Leclerc, and an incident with Russell at Turn 1. This series of events resulted in a 10-second time penalty and three additional penalty points.

When asked about concerns regarding penalty points that won’t decrease until October, Verstappen responded briefly: “Maybe that’s an issue for you, but not for me. I don’t think about it.”
