Verstappen Pessimistic About Challenging McLaren at Canadian GP

Max Verstappen reveals his concerns ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix — Red Bull has no chance to match McLaren’s pace at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

Despite winning the last three races in Montreal, the Dutch driver acknowledges this year’s situation is quite different — the circuit’s characteristics with few fast corners and emphasis on rear axle do not favor his team.

“It’s different this time around. If we can compete for a podium with Ferrari and Mercedes, that would be a good achievement,” says Verstappen.

The Formula 1 defending champion explains that Red Bull has improved their car’s balance issues compared to last season — however, they still face challenges at rear-limited circuits like Montreal, and haven’t optimized their performance over kerbs and uneven surfaces.

  • Circuit kerbs
  • Bumpy surfaces

“We’re moving in the right direction compared to last year. Now we just need to find more overall performance,” adds the Red Bull driver.
