Verstappen Frustrated with Red Bull’s Performance at British GP

Max Verstappen expressed his disappointment after a poor showing at the British Grand Prix — a race he described as “horrible” despite the rain drama that entertained spectators.

Red Bull’s struggles were evident from practice sessions, with the RB21 showing significant handling issues. The team was forced to take extreme measures by reducing downforce levels through rear wing adjustments — a strategy that contrasted with McLaren’s ability to maintain a balanced setup.

“I didn’t have more pace than anyone around me. That was my pace and that was just not good. Our rear wing didn’t help, but even with more downforce, we wouldn’t have been able to fight McLaren,” Verstappen stated.

With a 69-point deficit in the standings, championship hopes are slipping away. Red Bull’s Helmut Marko acknowledged McLaren’s superiority — confirming that current component improvements aren’t sufficient to turn this season around.

The team’s focus is now shifting toward 2026 car development, although some updates will still be introduced at the upcoming Spa GP. Verstappen himself has indicated a change in his racing approach — no longer thinking about the title and focusing more on individual race wins.
