Verstappen Denies Tension with Perez Ahead of Austrian GP

Max Verstappen has responded to Sergio Perez’s comments on the Desde el Paddock podcast regarding their relationship at Red Bull. Perez described Verstappen as someone who holds issues inside before releasing them on track.

In the podcast, Perez referenced the 2022 Monaco and Brazilian GP incidents — when Verstappen refused team orders to give position to Perez who was competing with Leclerc.

“Max had an issue with what happened in Monaco. He never told me directly and only brought it up six or eight months later,” said Perez.

Responding to these remarks, Verstappen maintained their relationship remains positive:

“I have a great relationship with Checo. We’ve always been good teammates with mutual respect. I’m looking forward to seeing him again soon in the paddock.”

Verstappen also promised to give his racing helmet to Perez around the upcoming Mexican GP — reciprocating Perez’s gift of a helmet with a special message.
