Verstappen Claims British GP Pole After Crucial Car Setup Changes

Max Verstappen secured British GP pole position after Red Bull implemented significant setup changes — transforming Friday’s severe understeer problems into maximum speed for Saturday’s qualifying.

The Dutch driver outpaced Oscar Piastri by 0.103 seconds, while Lando Norris claimed third position just 0.188 seconds behind. Competition was incredibly tight with Charles Leclerc in sixth place only 0.229 seconds off the pole time.

“We looked slow yesterday with the different wing, plus I had massive understeer. We had to reduce that understeer and it seemed to work,” explained Verstappen.

Team principal Christian Horner praised the Milton Keynes technical team’s overnight efforts to perfect the car. Meanwhile, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko emphasized — the team had anticipated securing front row once the understeer issues were resolved.
