Vanenburg maintains long throw-in tactics at ASEAN Cup U-23

Gerald Vanenburg proved the effectiveness of long throw-in tactics in Indonesia U-23’s victory over Philippines at ASEAN Cup U-23 2025 on Friday night.

The Young Garuda managed a narrow 1-0 win — the goal came from Robi Darwis’s long throw-in resulting in Jaime Rosquillo’s own goal.

Vanenburg’s team dominated the match with 66 percent possession and recorded 13 shots on goal — seven of which were on target, but were denied by goalkeeper Rodriguez Guimaraes’s brilliant performance.

“Sometimes there’s luck in matches,” stated Vanenburg after the game.
