Virgil van Dijk provides an update regarding his future at Liverpool — there are positive signs in new contract discussions with the club.

The Liverpool captain’s contract will expire this June, along with Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold. While Alexander-Arnold is reportedly targeted by Real Madrid, there remains optimism that Van Dijk and Salah will stay at Anfield.

“There is progress, yeah,” states the 33-year-old defender. “I love the club, I love the fans who are always there supporting us.”

This statement comes after Liverpool suffered a 3-2 defeat to Fulham. Goals from Ryan Sessegnon, Alex Iwobi, and Rodrigo Muniz canceled out Alexis Mac Allister’s early lead, before Luis Díaz reduced the deficit.

Arne Slot’s team still leads the standings with an 11-point advantage, but Van Dijk emphasizes that the battle isn’t over — the squad must quickly recover for their match against West Ham this weekend.
