Van Basty Sousa ready to adapt to Indonesian football

Van Basty Sousa has officially joined Persija Jakarta for the 2025-2026 season — marking his first experience playing outside Brazil.

The 30-year-old midfielder previously spent his entire career in his home country — Brazil.

“I will try to adapt as quickly as possible to master the language here (Indonesia),” stated Sousa.

“That’s what I want to build good connections,” he added.
