Valorant’s esports scene celebrated a historic milestone at Sports Emmy 2025 event, held at the Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City.

The Valorant Champions Tour (VCT), recognized by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), took home the award for “Outstanding Esports Championship Coverage” for its broadcast of the 2024 VCT Champions Final. That event made a new viewership records for VCT tournaments, peaking at 1.4 million concurrent viewers—a 120,000 increase from the previous year.

Held at South Korea’s INSPIRE Arena in Incheon, the final featured a thrilling best-of-5 showdown between EDward Gaming and Team Heretics. Despite intense pressure, EDG staged a remarkable reverse sweep to claim their first international title.

This marks Riot Games’ sixth Sports Emmy win in the category, following previous victories for League of Legends World Finals. The award-winning broadcast was produced by a dedicated team of esports industry leaders, including Leo Faria, John Needham and Yinsu Collins.

The VCT Champions 2024 triumphed over four other nominees: Call of Duty League Championship Weekend 2024, Dota 2 The International 2024, the CS2 IEM Cologne 2024 Grand Final and the League of Legends Worlds 2024 Final.
