According to ESPN sources, Valencia has offered a new contract to Cristhian Mosquera — a move aimed at preventing his transfer to Arsenal.

Arsenal has reached personal terms with the 20-year-old defender and begun negotiations with Valencia — with the transfer value estimated at £15 million.

Mosquera — who currently represents Spain’s U-21 national team — has become one of Europe’s most promising young defenders and played a key role for Valencia in the past two seasons.
