Uzbekistan President gifts electric cars to national team after World Cup qualification

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev gifted 30 BYD electric cars to the Uzbekistan national team — a special recognition for their successful qualification for the 2026 World Cup.

The handover ceremony took place at Milly Stadium, Tashkent, following a decisive 3-0 victory over Qatar in their final 2026 World Cup Asian Qualification match. Coach Abdukodir Khusanov’s team was welcomed by 30 thousand spectators filling the stands — while the row of electric cars was neatly parked along the field.

“You have qualified for the World Cup, take these keys,” said Mirziyoyev while symbolically handing over the car keys to the players at center field.

The President, representing the Liberal Democratic Party, personally greeted each member of the White Wolves — met with thunderous applause from tens of thousands of supporters in attendance.
