Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia dominate U-17 Asian Cup 2025 opening matches

The U-17 Asian Cup 2025 in Saudi Arabia officially kicked off yesterday with two Group A matches. Two seeded teams — Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia secured victories in their opening games.

At Okadz Sports Club Stadium, Uzbekistan from pot 2 demonstrated dominance by defeating Thailand from pot 3 with a convincing 4-1 score. Uzbekistan’s goals were scored by Khasanov, Sarsenbaev, Aliev, and Shukurullaev — while Thailand only managed to respond through Silva Mexes‘s goal.

In another match at King Fahd Sports City Stadium, hosts Saudi Arabia, the top seed from pot 1, defeated China from pot 4 with a score of 2-1. Saudi Arabia’s winning goals were netted by Matari and Al-Daghnah.
