USMNT Crushes Trinidad and Tobago 5-0 in Gold Cup Opener

The United States national team launched their 2025 Gold Cup campaign with a commanding 5-0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago at PayPal Park, San Jose.

Malik Tillman delivered a stellar performance with two first-half goals — followed by Patrick Agyemang‘s strike that made it 3-0 before the break. Brenden Aaronson and Haji Wright added two more goals in the closing minutes to complete the scoring feast for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

The 21-year-old Diego Luna impressed in front of his family and friends — providing an assist for Agyemang’s goal and contributing to Tillman’s scoring play.

This victory ends a four-match losing streak for the US national team — while demonstrating good chemistry between the starting XI and substitutes under Pochettino’s guidance.

The US national team will face Saudi Arabia on June 5, while Trinidad and Tobago will meet Haiti in their next group match.
