US women defeat Canada 3-0, Hutton scores first international goal

The United States women’s national soccer team demonstrated their dominance by defeating Canada 3-0 in a friendly match on Wednesday night.

19-year-old Claire Hutton marked a historic moment — scoring her first international goal in the 36th minute with a header from Rose Lavelle’s corner kick. Earlier, Sam Coffey opened the scoring in the 17th minute, while Yazmeen Ryan sealed the victory in the closing moments.

Coach Emma Hayes made significant rotation with 10 changes from the previous match — a decision that proved effective as her team dominated throughout the 90 minutes.

“They made sure the standards were high for the team,” Hayes said. “They played the way we wanted to play and they were superb.”

The US team has now won five consecutive friendly matches without conceding since their loss to Brazil three months ago. They will continue their preparation by facing South Korea and Japan this September.
